Shipping jewelry can cause a lot of stress.
Don’t let your jewelry be damaged during shipping. Though there are a variety of carrier-specific guidelines to follow, here are a few general rules to follow when shipping your jewelry:
- Use Two Boxes
Use an inner box to hold the jewelry, and an outer box for shipping. - Carefully Pack the Inner Box
When possible, use a box designed specifically for the type of jewelry you are sending. This is the best way to ensure a secure trip. Otherwise, wrap each piece individually in cloth and fill empty spaces in the box to keep the jewelry from shifting during travel. - Pack the Shipping Box with Packing Material
This protects the inner box during shipping. - Eliminate All Information on the Shipping Box
Especially anything that would refer to Jewelry or a Jeweler. If mailing something to us like a gold or silver jewelry repair or return, please feel free to use our names, “Gary and Lorraine Sohayda,” instead of “Golden Lion Jewelry” - Seal Both Boxes Completely with Tape
- Track the Shipment
Use a shipping method that allows tracking, such as Federal Express or UPS, so you’ll be able to know when it gets to its destination. - Insure the Shipment
Buy insurance, especially for extremely valuable jewelry. It costs a little, but it can make your loss a lot easier to bear. - Require a Signature on Delivery
- Don’t use a Drop Box
