The National Flag of Canada, which is also known affectionately as "the Maple Leaf" and in French, l'Unifolié ("the one-leafed"), is a flag which consists of a red base with a white square in the center, the middle of which features a stylized, 11-pointed, red maple leaf. This flag was adopted in 1965 to replace the previous "Union Flag," and was the first ever flag specified by statute law for official use as the county's national flag.
